Johnson Lands on Jim Thorpe Award Watch List

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State All-Big 12 Conference cornerback Leonard Johnson is one of 37 football players selected to be a member of the Jim Thorpe Award watch list announced Tuesday. The Thorpe Award is annually awarded to the nation’s top defensive back. Johnson is one of seven Big 12 players on the list.
One of the best cover corners in Cyclone history, Johnson has accrued 175 career tackles with five interceptions while breaking up 18 passes. Johnson, a native of Clearwater, Fla., made 64 tackles last season, breaking up a team-high seven passes.
