CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) — Illinois football coach Ron Zook says junior linebacker Ashante Williams has been suspended indefinitely following a violation of team rules.

No additional details about the suspension were immediately available Saturday.

Spokesman Kent Brown says the university won't comment any further on the violation of team rules. Brown says he isn't sure what the situation means for Williams' permanent status on the team or at the university.

Williams is a junior from Mayfield, Ohio.
