DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — Iowa State has been picked to finish ninth in the slimmed-down Big 12.

The Cyclones were picked to finish next-to-last in the 10-team conference in a poll of league media members released Wednesday.

Oklahoma, which won the Big 12 in 2010, received 41 of 43 first-place votes, followed by Texas A&M and Oklahoma State.

Only Kansas was picked lower than Iowa State, which went 5-7 last season and 3-5 in the Big 12.

The Cyclones, who'll be breaking in a new quarterback and running back, open at home against Northern Iowa on Sept. 3.
