Ferentz Keeps Social Media on Lockdown

Tools

By James Steward

IOWA CITY, Iowa - Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz is not a big fan of the social media world.

Ferentz was one of the first high-profile coaches to ban his team from using Twitter. South Carolina's Steve Spurrier can be added to the list of coaches banning their players from Tweeting.

But as Twitter and social media continue to grow, it only adds another layer to the complex world of college athletics.

For Ferentz, it's pretty simple: What happens in the Iowa program stays within the program.

KCRG-TV9 Sports' John Sears was at Media Day to get players' and coaches' reactions to the social media atmosphere (or lack thereof) around the Hawkeyes football program.
