OMAHA, Nebraska - Grant Gibbs was surprised to hear the news, but he's also excited. On Tuesday, the NCAA granted the Linn-Mar graduate a sixth year of eligibility.

Gibbs who transferred from Gonzaga to Creighton in 2010 averaged 8.5 points and 5.8 assists per game for the Bluejays last season. He also led the MVC in assists the last two seasons.

Creighton is moved from the MVC to the Big East this season, but with Gibbs and Doug McDermott returning, the Bluejays could make a run.
