North Dakota State has named a replacement for departed head coach Craig Bohl, and former Northern Iowa player and assistant Chris Klieman is that man.
Klieman, a Waterloo native, was named the Bison head man on Sunday. He was asked by Bohl to join him at Wyoming, but instead will take over for the NDSU’s most successful head coach.
Klieman served as an assistant at UNI for nine total years (1991-93, then 2006-10), coaching defensive backs. He played for the Panthers from 1986-90.
Klieman also was Coach at Loras in 2005, his only season as the head man in his career.
