First Round of USHL Playoffs: Dubuque Wins, Waterloo Falls

The first round of the USHL playoffs began on Wednesday night for both Waterloo and Dubuque. These two teams were hoping to take a 1-0 lead in the best of five series.
Dubuque hosted Muskegon, the Fighting Saints went 6-1 in the regular season versus the Lumberjacks.
The Fighting Saints had no problems with them once again, they scored three goals in the first two periods. That would be enough as Dubuque won game one, 4-1, game two of the series will be on Friday at 7:35 p.m.
As for the Waterloo Blackhawks, they were on the road taking on the Fargo Force. Waterloo faced Fargo four times in the regular season, but was defeated in all four games.
The Blackhawks jumped to an early 1-0 lead after the first period from a goal by Zach Stepan. Fargo came back in the 2nd period with two goals to lead 2-1 after two periods. Waterloo tied it up in the 3rd period with a goal from Taylor Cammarata, but with 1:30 left, Austin Ortega scored the go ahead goal for the Force. Fargo took game one with a 3-2 win, game two will also be on Friday at 7:35 p.m.
