Cyclones QB Battle Will Carry Through to Fall

By James Steward

The search for a new starting quarterback at Iowa State continues to be just that: a search.

In the running are hold-over back up Jerome Tiller, who actually played in some games last season, and junior college transfer Steele Jantz.

And they seem to be running neck and neck.

"I'm not prepared to name a starting quarterback for the fall," Cyclones Head Coach Paul Rhoads said. "Nor will I, and we'll go into fall camp trying to decide who exactly will lead our football team on September 3 when we open the season."

"There's been a lot of adjustments," Jantz admitted. "I guess you could say the speed is faster. It's bigger. But as I become more comfortable with the offense and just [get] more reps, I know the game will slow down."
