Cedar Rapids-Cedar Rapids Kernel's pitcher Fabio Martinez can rare back and throw it. His fast ball regularly tops out at 95-96 mph.
In 30 innings he has struck out 47 while walking 25. Control is one thing pitching coach Brandon Emanuel is working on this year and he thinks Martinez has improved. Catcher Carlos Ramirez, who has caught Fabio for two years, is sure he has. Ramirez says Fabio's two seam fastball can be tough to catch because it usually has a lot of movement.
Martinez is 1-1, in this, his 4th season in pro ball.
