ST. CHARLES, Mo. (AP) — Lizzie Boeck hit two free throws with 7.1 seconds left, giving Northern Iowa a 54-53 victory over Creighton in the championship game of the Missouri Valley Conference tournament Sunday.

Fifth-seeded Northern Iowa (17-15) advanced to the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history.

Boeck, the tournament MVP, finished with 19 points. She scored the last seven points of the game as the Panthers closed with a 9-0 run over the final 7:46.

Nicole Clausen added 10 points for the Panthers, and Erin Brocka pulled down nine rebounds.

Chevelle Herring and Megan Neuvirth scored 13 points each for second-seeded Creighton (20-10).

Northern Iowa is the first school from the MVC to have both its women's and men's team advance to the NCAA tournament since Creighton in 2002.
