Local Boys Teams Punch Tickets to State

CEDAR RAPIDS - Linn-Mar, Cedar Rapids Washington and Jefferson are all headed to the boys state basketball tournament.

2nd ranked Linn-Mar got by Pleasant Valley 49-46. Matt Bohannon led the way with 21 points. Marcus Paige only played a few minutes as he is still battling mono. The Lions will play Clinton next Wednesday at 6:35 in Des Moines.

Washington held off a feisty City High team 54-47. Wes Washpun led the way with 22 points while Josh Ogelsby chipped in 20. The Warriors get the lofty task of facing Top ranked and undefeated Ames in the first round. The Little Cyclones, who have the best player in the country in Harrison Barnes, are considered by many as the best high school basketball team ever in the state of Iowa. Game time is 1:45 next Wednesday.

And the J-Hawks knocked off Cedar Falls 47-42. Jared Uthoff led the way with 20 points. Stu Ordman's bunch will face Sioux City East Wednesday at 3:30.
