UNI Loses in Final Seconds to Ill. St.

NORMAL, Ill. (AP) - Matt Lancaster's 8-yard touchdown pass to
Eyad Salem with 1 second remaining Saturday lifted Illinois State
to a 22-20 victory over Northern Iowa.
Northern Iowa (7-4, 5-3 Missouri Valley) did not lead in the
game until 44 seconds remained, when Zach Davis connected with
Schuylar Oordt on a 36-yard TD pass for a 20-16 Panthers lead. But
the Redbirds (6-5, 5-3) went 59 yards in five plays to win it.
Lancaster hit Ben Ericksen for 24 yards and then ran for 11 to get
Illinois State close to the end zone.
The Redbirds built a 16-3 halftime lead on Chris Garrett's
32-yard interception return for a score and three Zach Kutch field
goals, including 52- and 51-yarders. Davis threw a pair of
touchdown passes in the final 6 minutes to rally Northern Iowa.
UNI will have ti wait till Sunday to find out their playoff fate.
