Solon-Solon football coach Kevin Miller, who has guided the Spartans to 40 straight victories, feels blessed. Blessed to have great athletes, great coaches and a community that "embraces what we do."
Miller, who quarterbacked Solon to a state title in 1988, has his Spartans one win away for a third straight state title. He says he never takes the winning for granted. Miller says he struggled in his early days as a coach and the losing was humbling. That feeling drives him.
He says it is very important to stay hungry, and as a coach, he has to push the right buttons to keep his players hungry.
Saturday, Solon plays Boyden Hull-Rock Valley for the 2A state championship.
