WHAT CHEER - Ed Thomas, who was gunned down in Parkersburg last Wednesday, was proud to be an Iowan. He reminded people at the TV9 Athlete of the Week Banquet in May to never forget where they came from.

Ed Thomas came from What Cheer. He played all sports at Tri-County High school and yes, he was the quarterback on the football team.

Steve Van Zee was the center. He says when Ed talked in the huddle, everyone listened. Kevin Willhour was a tackle on the team and he said you could just see young Ed Thomas preparing to be a coach someday.

Both said he was easy to get along with and was always in better shape than anyone else.
