CEDAR RAPIDS - It was a Top 5 showdown out at Jones Park and it lived up to the hype.
2nd Ranked Kennedy used a goal by Patrick Montag late in the 1st half and hung on for a 1-0 win.
The goal can only be described as incredible. Off a corner kick Montag used a bicycle kick that floated perfectly under the crossbar.
The win puts the Cougars in the drivers seat for the conference title.
Kennedy will also vault to the #1 ranking in Class 3A on Wednesday.
The Cougars have a bye in the first round of substate, they'll play the winner of Prairie and Jefferson.
Wash does not have a bye, they will play Linn-Mar in the first round.
