CEDAR RAPIDS - The Cedar Rapids Kernels are hoping to move closer to perfection this season. After all they'll be playing at Perfect Game Field.
Tuesday the baseball team announced it's changing the name of the field.
Last season we were introduced to Dale and Thomas Popcorn Field. Now, the Kernels will hitting home runs out of Perfect Game Field.
Team officials say the Dale and Thomas Popcorn company approached them in January, and said because of the economy they couldn't afford to continue to sponsor the field.
After a short search, Perfect Game USA stepped forward. Perfect Game is a nation-wide baseball scouting company based here in Cedar Rapids.
Jerry Ford with Perfect Game USA said, "And we need to try to make baseball fans in this community, because it's in our history."
The new name and all the signage will be ready to go for the season opener on April 9th. You can already get tickets through their box office.
The team says they're ready for a big season, and are hoping with families staying closer to home, they'll find time to catch a game or two.
