Matt Gatens Named Iowa's Mr. Basketball

IOWA CITY, IA - Iowa City City High's Matt Gatens has been named Iowa's Mr. Basketball, an award given to the Top basketball player in the state of Iowa.
He joins the likes of Kirk Hinrich, Nick Collison, Jeff Horner, Jason Bohannon, and Brooks Mckowen in the elite fraternity, all former winners of Mr. Basketball.
He averaged 23 points 6 rebounds 5 assists a game as a Senior. Gatens will play ball next year under Todd Lickliter at the University of Iowa.
