Iowa City-Eric MacTaggart is an All-American distance runner at Iowa but he is also a music education major and there-in lies a dilemma.

As a music ed major he is required to play one semester in the marching band. This is the semester Eric chose, so he officially red-shirted from the track and cross country team and is playing trombone in the marching band.

MacTaggart says he is enjoying the time away from competitive running, but is looking forward to the track season.

Next year he will have a full season of cross country and track.
