Barnstormers Rehire Former Coach John Gregory

By Becky Ogann

DES MOINES (AP) - The Iowa Barnstormers have hired a coach.

The arena football team has named John Gregory as head coach and director of operations. He served in the same capacity for the original Barnstormers of the Arena Football League from 1995-2000.

The revamped franchise will begin play in the spring of 2008.

Gregory is a two-time AFL coach of the year, and led the AF2 Arkansas Twisters to back-to-back playoff appearances and a 12-4 record last season.

The Webster City native spent 13 years coaching in the Canadian Football League and two seasons as the offensive coordinator at Northern Iowa.
