PARKERSBURG - Parkersburg is still rebuilding, but on Monday, Falcon Country has reason to celebrate.

Students, parents, faculty and staff are welcoming a brand new high school with the start of fall classes.

The classes started up in Aplington-Parkersburg on Monday morning. Fifteen months after a major tornado leveled it, a brand new $19 million dollar A-P High School opened its doors.

Superintendent Jon Thompson says academic wings of the building are ready for classes on Monday.

Some work, though, will continue over the next few months.

This Friday, the A-P football team will kick-off its first football season in 34 years without head coach Ed Thomas.

You can see the season opener on TV9 this Friday. ESPN is broadcasting A-P's game against Dike-New Hartford to a national audience.

Our coverage starts on the TV9 News at 6, with kickoff at 6:45.
