EASTERN IOWA - The state says flooding and tornadoes displaced around 2,500 students here in Iowa this spring and summer.

In all, 50 public and five private school districts reported flooded buildings. Six had tornado damage and another four had hail damage.

The total cost is $62 million for public districts, and another $1.7 million for private schools.

The Cedar Rapids, Aplington-Parkersburg and Waverly-Shell Rock Districts have schools that won't open this fall.
