NWS Now Confirms Six Tornadoes on May 25th
CEDAR RAPIDS - The number of confirmed tornadoes in eastern Iowa last Sunday now stands at six.
The first tornado tracked through Parkersburg, New Hartford and near Dunkerton, killing seven and injuring dozens more.
The second tornado injured three as it hit the communities of Fairbank and Hazleton with winds estimated at 160-miles per hour.
The National Weather Service now confirms a third tornado four miles southwest of Lamont with winds around 90 miles an hour. Tornado reports in Delaware and Dubuque County turned out to be the same tornado, tracking nearly eight miles.
Further south, a tornado was reported in Iowa County. It was on the ground for six miles with winds estimated at 90 miles per hour.
The sixth and final tornado was a brief touchdown in Johnson County near North Liberty just before midnight on Sunday.
