Cedar Rapids American Legion Starts Drive for Tornado Victims: Find Out What is Needed Most

(CEDAR RAPIDS) - After an overwhelming response in Washington, Coralville and North Liberty for donations to storm victims, the American Legion in Cedar Rapids is opening up a drive of its own.

The American Legion Post "5" will accept donations of food, water, clothing, and other household items to help the people in Parkersburg.

Drop Off Times: 9 AM to 7 PM Monday-Friday

According to volunteers working in the disaster areas of Parkersburg, these are the items needed the MOST at this time ... they say they already have plenty of water right now:

- Brand New Socks and Underwear
- Cleaning Supplies
- Large Black Trash Bags
- Mattresses (All Sizes)
- Blankets and Comforters (Queen Size)
- Dish Soap
- Triple and Double-A Batteries
- Plastic Baggies (like sandwich bags)
- Non-perishable food items (like canned items)
- Cash Donations to Red Cross with "memo" line to "Iowa Tornado Victims"


You can also donate money directly to the Aplington-Parkersburg School Tornado Fund. The money goes to support students, teacher, and staff.
