I'm sure my last post made no sense. We're pretty sure I was suffering dehydrated and had way too much sun. Throw in the fact that I realized this morning I didn't really eat anything all day...I was in a pretty rough state. Today, however, I learned from those mistakes and it was so much more enjoyable....but still hot and hilly.
The hills were long, but more times then not there was a spot to stop and rest at the top, and going down is fun. A member of my team also gave me some points in taking on the rolling hills to make going up not suck as much.
The football team in Elk Horn was my choice for breakfast, and the free coffee and Gatorade was a nice touch, outside of Manning there was a farm serving very fresh ice cream (see pic message) and in Templeton we spent much of the afternoon at the distillery. Even though the last 10-15 miles were a lot hillier then I would of liked, the bullheaded side of my brain has overpowered the common sense side. As long as remember to eat and drink enough (water), today showed I did actually train enough for the week.
Tonight we're camped at Carroll High School and are just spending the night playing bags, recovering, and hanging out in a big red Iowa State bus. Personally I'm from an Iowa household, but for the convenience, myself and the other Iowa fans on our team have agreed to not complain too much.
Ready or not day 3....here we com.
