CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa Cedar Rapids police said a 16-year-old College Community School student was seriously injured when he was hit by a pickup Tuesday morning.

Police said the student, Joseph Mull, reportedly got off a City Transit bus near the intersection of Sixth Street and 76th Avenue SW around 8:08 a.m. Police said the Mull attempted to run across Sixth Street and was hit by a Dodge Dakota pickup truck traveling northbound on Sixth Street.

The teenager was seriously injured, police said. The driver of the pickup, Robert Sovers, 52, of Marion, was not injured, police said. Police said Sovers is not facing any questions.

The student has been transferred to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, police said.
