Our Town Williamsburg - Meet Mrs. Wolter
WILLIAMSBURG - Regardless of the size of the city you live in, education is always important. And for one woman in Our Town Williamsburg, it's been a huge part of her life.
Good morning and welcome to Our Town Williamsburg. This rural community prides itself in having a strong education system. Along with the public school Williamsburg has a private school for students to attend. The Lutheran Inter Parish School is celebrating its 40th birthday. But even more surprising, one teacher has been teaching in the Lutheran School System for 49 years. Meet Mrs. Wolter.
These eighth graders are graduating from Lutheran Inter Parish School and they all have one thing in common. In first grade, they got daily hugs from Mrs. Wolter. Now, almost 50 years in the Lutheran School District and a lot of hugs later, Mrs. Wolter is retiring.
Mrs. Wolter had cancer. She retired once already but came back mid-school year because she missed her students. Now, she has decided to retire for good.
40 years ago, the area Lutheran schools consolidated into the current Inter Parish School. Mrs. Wolter says she prefers working in the Lutheran School District because she can work Christian values into her lessons. Mrs. Wolter hopes her students will remember these lessons forever.
