Our Town Williamsburg - Its Hip to Be on the Square
WILLIAMSBURG - Out Town Williamsburg has something that you don't find in every community and that's a town square.
The town square in Williamsburg is something this town has worked hard to keep active. Williamsburg's Chamber of Commerce President Fonda Garringer stopped by to take KCRG-TV9's Joe Winters on a tour of the square.
The first stop on the tour clearly shows this community loves its history. Fonda brought Joe to the town's new historical building. Inside, a gathering of artifacts is starting to fill the new building. Community members have been donating historical items to be displayed to those visiting for the sesquicentennial.
From the historical building, they took a walk to the park, located in the center of the square. The park was busy with parents and children enjoying Wednesday's nice weather.
The owners were putting final touches on their shops, so they would look the best for the town celebration. It's no wonder the square is such an attractive location.
From fires to park renovations, the square has changed over its 150 year history. If you stop by Williamsburg, be sure to visit the nearly 40 businesses on the square and others around town.
