DYSART, Iowa – Dysart lost around 300 trees to a devastating wind storm two years ago, but the Heritage Arboretum is working to bring them back. The Dysart Tree Board started the arboretum in 2004, and the park is more than just a tranquil place to walk.

"We count it as an educational tool,” said Cathy Wieck of the Dysart Tree Board. “If somebody in town wants to plant a tree, we can pretty well show them either in the park, the trail, or down here, what their tree will look like.”

The arboretum also enlists the help of the FFA, who started their own company called Big Creek Landscaping. The group helps maintain the park.
