Iowa Democratic Party Gains 60,000 Voters

By Scott Sanborn

DES MOINES (AP) - The Iowa Democratic Party has added
nearly 60,000 voters, while Republicans gained about 7,600 voters.

That's according to statistics released yesterday by Secretary
of State Michael Mauro.

Mauro attributed the boost to the January 3rd presidential
caucuses.

Mauro says that as of March 1, there were about 701,000
registered Democrats in Iowa. There were about 615,000 registered
Republicans and about 760,000 not affiliated with a party.

The number of no-party voters decreased by about 49,000.
