Obama Leads in Iowa Campaign Donations

By Scott Sanborn

DES MOINES (AP) - Iowans gave more than
one-point-four-million-dollars to presidential candidates, with
Democrat Barack Obama leading the pack.

Federal Election Commission records show that Iowans gave
$735,000 to Democratic candidates and $720,000 to Republicans
through 2007.

Obama, who won the Iowa caucuses, was the leader in fund raising
among all the candidates, raising $226,000.

Hillary Clinton brought in about $185,000, and John Edwards, who
has withdrawn from the race, raised $139,000 in Iowa.

Among Republicans, Mitt Romney raised the most in Iowa at about
$174,000, despite finishing second in the caucuses behind Mike
Huckabee.

Ron Paul came in second at $152,000 and John McCain raised
$71,000 in Iowa.
