Richardson Releases New TV Ad in Iowa

By Scott Sanborn

DES MOINES (AP) - Democratic presidential candidate Bill
Richardson is releasing a new television ad in Iowa about two
Americans, including an Iowan, who spent four months in prison for
entering Iraq illegally in 1995.

The ad, which hits the airwaves Monday, features Bill
Barloon, of New Hampton, and David Daliberti, of Jacksonville,
Florida.

They say they strayed across the border accidentally while
visiting friends at a U.N. post. Iraqi President Saddam Hussein
released the men at the request of Richardson, who was then a
congressman from New Mexico.

Richardson, a former secretary of energy and U.N. ambassador,
routinely touts his foreign policy experience, which he says far
exceeds that of his rivals.
