PARKERSBURG - Butler County authorities arrested Becker Saturday night after a high speed chase through Cedar Falls and into Grundy and Butler Counties.

After spending the night in jail, law enforcement took Becker to Covenant Medical Center for medical attention. Tuesday, he left that hospital without authorities knowing.

The Division of criminal investigation is now looking into how this happened.

Saturday night around 9 p.m., Cedar Falls police responded to a house where Becker was allegedly breaking windows and destroying the garage there.

He then took off in his car, leading police on a high speed chase. Butler County authorities arrest Becker after he hit a deer going 90 miles per hour.

He spent the night in the butler County Jail and then Sunday morning law enforcement took him to Covenant Medical Center.

The department of public safety will not say specifically which agency took him to the hospital, but say it asked agents at the hospital to notify them when the hospital released Becker.

The DPS says that did not happen and Becker left the hospital Tuesday. We do know he spent the night at his parent's home in Parkersburg Tuesday night.

The department of public safety still won't say why Becker was in the hospital, but Cedar Falls' Police Chief says it was for a psychiatric evaluation.

"He went to a house, knocked on the door, confronted the home owner. Home owner said he did not know who Becker was or why he was upset. Becker went and got a bat and starting knocking out windows and the door. Then he got into the car and ran into the overhead garage door," said CF Police Chief Jeff Olson.

We contacted Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, which said because of health protection laws they cannot comment about any patients, and said all information regarding this case would come from law enforcement.
