VINTON, Iowa - Workers at Vinton's Evergreen Cemetery describe their land as a "war zone." Monday's storm knocked over about 85 percent of the trees and 50 to 100 grave stones. Now the cemetery's two workers are making their way through the damage but they says it's slow going. It's a depressing sight for the cemetery's Sexton who has lived and worked there for 28 years.
The Evergreen Cemetery Sexton, Tim Fuchs said," The sentimental values of the trees. They've been here since early 1800s. It's just sad. Once they're gone, they're gone. This won't be much of an Evergreen cemetery."
The workers say they're starting the cleanup process where they might need to hold burial services. Because of the massive damage to the cemetery, they're looking for help from the community.
