DES MOINES, Iowa - Gubernatorial candidate Ray Narcisse said the director of elections for the Iowa Secretary of State rejected submitted petitions and disqualified his nomination for the June 3 Democratic primary race.
Narcisse said in a news release that he will dispute the decision.
The news release said Sarah Reisetter, director of elections for the Iowa Secretary of State, sent an email Saturday indicating her office was rejecting enough submitted petitions to disqualify Narcisse's nomination.
Narcisse submitted more than 4,500 signatures from more than 50 counties on Friday, according to the release. While the signatures qualified Narcisse for the ballot, the release said, Reisetter rejected some based on a purported technicality.
