DES MOINES, Iowa —David Letterman poked fun at Iowa Sen. Charles Grassley Tuesday night on Late Show with David Letterman.

Grassley was featured on a segment called the Stooge of the Night.

"That's Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley who recently voted no on gun reform legislation despite the fact that 88 percent of voters in his state wanted background checks for gun violence. Voted no, no -- sorry Doris, call me when it's 100. That's barely half, said Chuck. Why would I care about a niggling minority like 88 percent. Chuck enjoys ceramics, big band music and his A rating from the NRA," Letterman said.

KCCI in Des Moines asked Grassley Wednesday for his response to the segment.

Grassley told KCCI that he goes to bed at 9:30 p.m. and didn't see the segment.
