By Clark Cahill, Reporter
IOWA CITY - An Iowa City woman faces an assault charge after police say she hit her boyfriend several times for not helping with the dishes.
Police reported to the 2100 block of Davis Street in Iowa City around 10 p.m. Monday for a report of a fight between a man and a woman.
Marvella A. Lindsey, 22, told police she threw an object at her boyfriend because "he wouldn't help with the dishes."
The boyfriend told police Lindsey she hit him several times in the head with a small broomstick. Police said bite marks were also visible on the back of the boyfriend's hand.
Lindsey was charged with domestic abuse assault without intent causing injury, a serious misdemeanor. She was also charged with obstruction of emergency communication for allegedly breaking a cell phone after the boyfriend's mother tried to call 9-1-1 during the assault.
Lindsey was being held Wednesday at the Johnson County Jail on a $2,500 cash-only bond.
