Reno Man Accused of Kidnapping Grandpa

By Kelli Sutterman

RENO, Nev. (AP) — A Reno man accused of tying up his grandfather in the closet after a fight over a radio was arrested hours later when he crashed the 83-year-old man's stolen pickup.

Police say 20-year-old Bryce Weiss pulled a knife on his grand-dad Sunday, demanded his wallet and told him he was going to "carve" him up.

Police say Weiss taped him to a chair, taped his mouth and nose, and stuck his head in a box in the closet. It took 2-3 hours, but the victim escaped unharmed and called police about 6:30 p.m.

Weiss was arrested around midnight when he crashed the truck on the UNR campus. He has been booked on suspicion of second-degree kidnapping, robbery of an elderly person with a deadly weapon, grand larceny and careless driving.
