Clarksville Man Dies Following Waterloo Crash

By Daren Sukhram

WATERLOO - On Wednesday at around 3:30 pm, Waterloo Police officers responded to the area of the 700 block of East San Marnan Drive on the report of a vehicle crash.

Officers learned that a westbound car, driven by Tiasa Arraut, 26, of Hudson stalled in the roadway and was then struck from the rear by a motorcycle, which was driven by Neil Nordman, 60, of Clarksville.

Police say upon impact, Nordman, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown over the top of Arraut's car. Witnesses report that the hazard lights on Arraut's car were on at the time of the crash.

Waterloo Fire Rescue Paramedics transported Nordman and two passengers in Arraut's car, Donovan Arraut, 6, and Aubrianna Arraut, 4, to Covenant Medical Center for injuries they sustained in the crash. Donovan and Aubrianna Arraut were treated and released.

Shortly before 1:00 am on Thursday, Neil Nordman died at Covenant Medical Center as a result of his injuries. The Black Hawk County Medical Examiner determined the cause of death was blunt force trauma and internal injuries to Nordman's chest.
