Water Main Break Kills Trout in Cedar Rapids Creek
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa -- The Iowa DNR says a water main break killed dozens of trout in a Cedar Rapids creek Thursday.
The chlorinated water from the break reached McLoud Run in northeast Cedar Rapids Thursday. DNR officials found 70-75 trout as well as some white suckers along a half mile stretch of the creek near Council Street and Miami Drive NE.
The break has since been fixed, but the Iowa DNR says it could find more dead fish farther downstream from this event.
