Iowa Manufacturing & Iowa Steel & Iron: The Images of Torkel Korling

By Jay Knoll

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - A new exhibit in Cedar Rapids mixes the finesse of modern art and the grit of Iowa's industrial history.

In 1943, Howard Hall, a former Brucemore resident and industrialist, hired Torkel Korling to take photos to show off Cedar Rapids' manufacturing prowess. Now thanks to Brucemore and Gallery Bo, these images are on display.

"Iowa Manufacturing and Iowa Steel and Iron: The Images of Torkel Korling" is on display at Gallery Bo, which is inside 1st Class Finds on the corner of 3rd St. And 14th Ave SE.

Prints are available of all the photographs and are $25 each. The gallery runs through August 20th.
