CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - People in Eastern Iowa are trying to help following that devastating tornado in Moore, Oklahoma.

On Thursday folks began collecting baseball equipment and other supplies. An SUV full of donations sat outside an 11-year-old youth baseball game, that day. Some of the items will go to the 1,400 kids involved in the Moore Youth Baseball Association.

On Saturday, a moving van was packed with more donations, all for the kids of Moore.

The Metro Youth Football Association of Cedar Rapids donated 1,000 pairs of pants and football pads -- that helps - football is big in Oklahoma. Now other programs - Xavier, Linn-Mar, Jefferson, Center Point Urbana, Prairie to name a few - have joined in to help.

"What started out as an 11U Cougar baseball project has turned into a city-wide effort, baseball teams, non--baseball teams, including the Metro Youth Baseball Association and it's just amazing," Jeff Weissenberger, a donation organizer said.

The moving van will be at Maher Brothers Allied Moving and Storage in Cedar Rapids on Monday to take more donations. The van will leave town Tuesday to deliver the donations to Oklahoma.
