Young Inventors Compete for Scholarships
IOWA CITY, Iowa - A competition of creative minds took place Saturday among elementary school students from across the state.
Invent Iowa is an annual competition for student-made inventions. Students have to advance through several rounds of applications just to get to the competition.
Contraptions related to farming and cooking were common, but two girls offered something for female runners -- a sports bra that can hold personal items.
One sports apparel store has already endorsed the idea.
"We basically gave them our sales pitch and she said they'd gladly endorse it as a product to sell there," said Lydia Fisher of Wapello.
Twenty inventors competed for five scholarship awards.
