DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - The World Food Prize is celebrating the 99th anniversary of founder Norman Borlaug's birth.

The World Food Prize Hall of Laureates in Des Moines will be open for extended hours Saturday and the documentary, "Freedom from Famine: The Norman Borlaug Story," will be shown at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

A birthday cake will be served Monday from 11 a.m. to noon and sculptor Benjamin Victor, who is creating a statue of Borlaug for the U.S. Capitol, will speak. Showings of the documentary will be repeated at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The Food Bank of Iowa will collect food donations to combat hunger in Iowa.

Borlaug received the Nobel Prize in 1970 for boosting agricultural production in what has become known as the "Green Revolution." He died in 2009.
