Woman Fired for Parking in Emergency Room Lot

IOWA CITY, Iowa - Parking in an emergency room lot at a hospital can lead to getting towed -- but a hospital employee and her husband are now out of work for it.

The Press-Citizen reported that, in October, University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics received a report that medical assistant Danielle Hodges and her husband were parking in an E-R lot. The couple was fired on November 7th, with the university citing misconduct for violating policy.

A judge denied Hodges' unemployment benefit claim this week, saying the former employee violated the warning sign not to park there.

The Press-Citizen reports that Hodges said the car in question was not hers and that she didn't have control over where her husband parked it.
