CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - A Swisher woman has died, two months after she was injured in a traffic accident in Cedar Rapids.
Kathleen M. Wright, 50, died Friday at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, according to an obituary submitted to The Gazette. She had been there since the crash at the corner of Edgewood Road and 76th Avenue SW on Oct. 4.
According to a police, Wright was driving south on Edgewood Road SW when her car was struck by a westbound sport-utility vehicle that ran a stop sign. Three passengers in Wright's car were also injured: Bruce Wright, 50; Bruce Wright Jr., 21; and Katherine Grabe, 19, all of Swisher.
Police said the driver of the SUV, Yolanda Campos, 50, of Fairfax, was issued a ticket for failing to stop at the stop sign. Sgt. Cristy Hamblin said Monday an investigation into crash has been completed and no other charges will be filed.
Eight people have died following traffic collisions in Cedar Rapids this year.
