Woman Charged With Arson, Fraud in Davenport Fire
DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — Authorities say a 51-year-old woman has been charged with setting fire to her own house in Davenport.
The Quad-City Times says Donna Jones is scheduled to be arraigned Oct. 25 on two counts of insurance fraud and one of arson.
A court affidavit says Jones was the last person at the house on May 6 when the fire began about 7 p.m.
The affidavit says Jones later made false statements to investigators and her insurer regarding the fire and her insurance claims.
A public phone listing for Jones couldn't be found. Her attorney, Steve Hanna, told The Associated Press on Monday that Jones denies the arson and fraud allegations.
