West Liberty Names Police Chief as Interim Manager
WEST LIBERTY, Iowa (AP) - West Liberty has appointed the southeast Iowa city's police chief as temporary city manager.
The City Council on Tuesday night unanimously approved the appointment of Lawrence McNaul to the interim position until a permanent city manager is hired.
The Muscatine Journal reports McNaul will continue to work as police chief but will likely be assisted by Capt. Mike Meier.
The move came after the council abruptly fired Chris Ward last week.
On Tuesday, the council also formed a committee to find a search firm to seek city manager candidates.
