DES MOINES, Iowa - A new state website will make it easier for teachers to search for job openings in Iowa.

The website "teachiowa.gov" launched today. It's an online job forum for openings in Iowa school districts. The website is part of an educational reform bill lawmakers passed this last session. It requires districts to post all jobs on the website. It's free for both the district and job candidates. Governor Branstad says it will create more competition for teaching jobs, and in the long-term benefit students.

"I think it will make it a lot easier for a really good teacher that wants to come to Iowa instead of before you had to basically go individual district by district and determine whether there's a vacancy and whether you had the right qualifications and background for that," Branstad said.

Some jobs are already on the site. This will be a requirement for all teacher openings in Iowa public schools.
