Waterloo Police Investigate Report of Attempted Child Abduction

WATERLOO, Iowa - Police in Waterloo are investigating a report of an attempted child abduction that happened on Wednesday afternoon.

According to police, a 9-year-old girl was walking home from school when a black van stopped her at the intersection of Essex Drive and Idaho Street. A white female passenger got out of the van and grabbed the girl by the collar of her coat. The girl got away and the female got back in the van and took off.

The passenger was described as a white female, middle aged with grey hair, 5'9, medium build wearing a black shirt and black pants. The driver of the van was described as a black male, middle aged, with grey hair. The black van had no windows.

A possible license plate on the van includes the numbers similar to "1050"

The van was last seen driving south on Idaho Street towards Dubuque Road.

Anyone with information about the van or suspects are asked to call the Waterloo Police Department at 319-291-2515.
