WATERLOO, Iowa - Investigators charged two men with first-degree robbery after an attempted armed robbery.

Officers were called to the Neighborhood Mart, 2100 Lafayette St., Waterloo, at about 9:55 p.m. Wednesday. A man threatened the clerk with a gun and demanded money while another man waited outside as a look out.

The suspects were not able to get any money, and drove away. The clerk was not hurt.

Officers later stopped the suspects. Marcus Gamblin now faces charges of first-degree robbery and possession of a firearm as a felon, and Willie Phillips faces first-degree robbery.
